Wallin Mountain
A paved connector over Wallin Mountain that cuts the Black Oak loop in half and creates new ways to link the road network.
About Wallin Mountain
Wallin Mountain is one of the newer pieces of Fayetteville’s road-riding network, made possible when Trace Branch Road was paved between Whitehouse Road and Wallin Mountain Road.
The connector cuts across the middle of the classic Black Oak loop, climbing over the wooded ridge between the White Oak Mountain and Snyder Mountain areas before dropping into the southern valley.
Either direction works well, with a nice climb and a rewarding descent. More importantly, Wallin Mountain turns Black Oak into a far more flexible route, opening up figure-eights, shortcuts and new ways to move between the east side and the roads toward West Fork.
Notes
- Refueling: There are no refueling stops on the core loop.
- Descending: The eastern descent includes one pretty sharp turn before opening up. The western descent toward Hwy 71 is much more of a stair step situation.
- Highway 71: Always use caution when riding on Highway 71.
