About Spring Classic
This route follows one full lap of the NWA Spring Classic, a longstanding early-season road race based in Prairie Grove and one of the region’s enduring fixtures.
The course heads north on Stonewall Road before turning onto Wedington Blacktop. After several rollers, riders continue through the wooded hills near Lake Wedington, descend Highway 16, and cross the open farmland west of Farmington where Weaver Hill provides its defining test before returning to Prairie Grove.
Ride it to experience the roads and race lore of a longtime fixture in Fayetteville-area cycling history.
Notes
- Refueling : There are no stops for water or supplies, but if you're headed to the core loop through Prairie Grove, there are two gas stations to choose from.
- Lake Wedington: The loop skirts the edge of Lake Wedington, offering riders a quick flash of scenic waterfront views.
- Belgian Road: The Kinion Lake shortcut is often called Belgian Road by locals because the paved surface was for many years in a constant state of deterioration. It's not bad these days, though.
- Highway 16: After passing the lake, vehicular traffic on Highway 16 can sometimes speed up, so stay alert in the brief stretch before turning onto Viney Grove, and use caution.
