About Prairie Grove

The Prairie Grove loop is less about riding a destination loop than learning the two classic road corridors between Fayetteville and Prairie Grove.

One side runs through Greenland on AR-265 before turning onto Illinois Chapel Road, better known to local riders as "The Diagonal," which cuts west toward the Prairie Grove gas station and a common refueling stop for longer rides.

The other side uses a short stretch of US-62 before turning onto Walnut Grove for a winding ride along 170 through east Farmington to link with Wolfdale Road and Holland Drive.

Learn both directions and you gain one of the most useful building blocks for rides into western Washington County.

Notes

  • Refueling: The route goes by two gas stations in Prairie Grove, which is one reason why adding the town to a route is favorable.
  • "The Diagonal": Locals sometimes refer to Illinois Chapel Road as "The Diagonal" in reference to how to get back to Fayetteville from Prairie Grove. Just FYI.
  • US 62: Traffic is usually heavy on US 62, but there's a wide shoulder on this brief route section, so use it and stay alert.

Note: Routes are provided for planning purposes. Road conditions, traffic and access can change. Ride within your abilities and verify current conditions before leaving.
