A mostly flat loop west of Fayetteville through Farmington, Bethel Blacktop, Viney Grove and Goose Creek, based on a longtime Fayetteville Wheelmen group ride.
About Owl Creek
Owl Creek is Fayetteville’s flattest road loop, staying mostly in the low country west of town with only modest climbing.
Based on a longtime Thursday ride hosted by the Fayetteville Wheelmen, the route heads south on Double Springs Road before crossing northern Farmington on Rheas Mill and Little Elm. Bethel Blacktop carries riders west to Viney Grove Road, where the loop turns north through open valley terrain beneath the higher ridges near Highway 16.
Goose Creek Road brings the route back east with a few gentle rollers, following the creek through pastures toward Double Springs. It is an easy-spinning local favorite when you want easier miles without mountains.
Notes
- Refueling: There are no stops on the core loop, but if approaching from the northeast, there's a gas station at Rupple and Wedington.
- Weaver Hill: The intersection of Goose Creek and Viney Grove is at the base of Weaver Hill. Ride this route clockwise to avoid the climb.
- NWA Spring Classic: The Viney Grove section of this route is used in the annual NWA Spring Classic road race, including Weaver Hill.
- Owl Creek Ride: This route is based on a popular Thursday night group ride hosted by the Fayetteville Wheelmen cycling club.
