Hickory Creek
A classic loop north of Fayetteville, following the White River through Sonora before reaching the ridges and coves near Beaver Lake and Hickory Creek.
About Hickory Creek
This is one of the few northern routes out of Fayetteville, but is one that new riders can sometimes overlook.
The route drops into the White River valley and follows Habberton Road along the river before climbing between Harp Mountain and Price Mountain toward Sonora. From there, rolling roads continue toward Hickory Creek and the coves of Beaver Lake, bringing riders close to the lake proper.
The return turns southwest through the rural country east of Springdale and near Fitzgerald Mountain before dropping back toward Fayetteville.
It is a rewarding change of direction, combining river bottoms, wooded ridges and lake country.
Notes
- Refueling: There are no water stops or stores on the route.
- Highway 264: After turning back toward Fayetteville, the route uses a section of Highway 264, so stay alert through there and use caution.
