Race Lore
Hell's Kitchen
Ride one lap of the former Hell’s Kitchen road race, looping Hogeye, Cove Creek, Tomato Road and AR-265 around its namesake climb.
About Hell's Kitchen
This route follows one lap of Hell’s Kitchen, a long-gone road race whose name still lives on in one of Fayetteville-area cycling’s best-known climbs.
Starting on Hogeye Road, the course turns onto Cove Creek Road before reaching Tomato Road and the climb now known simply as Hell’s Kitchen, a mile-long ascent averaging about 7% and topping out at 17%.
From the summit, riders turn onto AR-265 North and loop back toward Hogeye to complete the circuit.
Race distances once varied by category, with elite fields repeating this demanding loop four times and stacking thousands of feet of climbing.
Notes
- Refueling: The Hogeye Mall is a small store on 265 between Hell's Kitchen and Fayetteville.
- Descending: Riding this course in reverse is great, but take caution when descending Hell's Kitchen as the early curves can sneak up on you.
