About Dead Horse Mountain
Dead Horse Mountain is less a standalone route than a useful lesson in how Fayetteville’s road network fits together.
The road provides an alternate way to reach or return from Black Oak, trading the usual approaches for a short, punchy climb over Dead Horse Mountain. It can also be used as a connector between Black Oak and Wyman Road, creating a direct link from the south side of Fayetteville toward the east side.
Learn this piece of road and it becomes easy to work Dead Horse Mountain into longer rides, vary familiar southern routes or build new combinations across town.
Notes
- Refueling : There is a gas station on Huntsville Road.
- Life Saver Hill: Coming from the north, riders tackle Life Saver Hill, named for the roadside silo that was once painted to resemble a roll of Life Savers and is now covered in racing checkers.
- Huntsville Road: Use caution on Huntsville road during morning and evening rush hours.
